Dear friends; the two things that we need help with most right now in Vancouver are housing for war resisters and your participation in our outreach and lobbying in Conservative ridings and keeping up the media visibility. Below is a housing appeal, please pass it on freely. Also in Vancouver we will be doing another visit to a Conservative riding, probably either Emerson's in Vancouver or Nina Grewal in Fleetwood-Port Kells. What is a prophet, as described in the Book of Acts/Ephesians? It is not telling the future or forecasting financial initiatives and trends. It is not divining. It's not predicting who you will marry. Prophecy is is a warning to turn away from disaster and some folks don't like to hear that. Do we have prophets today?

"Psychological essentialism in selecting the 14th Dalai Lama" Category: Cognitive Psychology There's an interesting short paper by Paul Bloom and Susan Gelman in the July issue of Trends in Cognitive Science with that title. Unfortunately, it's not yet available without a subscription (though Bloom tends to put his papers on his website once published, so it might show up there sometime in the near future), but if you have a subscription or access to a university library, you can read it here.
